Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect by Default

Using a calculator does not create an account and does not send your project numbers to our servers. We do not collect your name or payment details by default. Numbers you type stay on this device unless you email an estimate or request quotes, as described below. If you allow analytics or advertising cookies (section 6), Google may receive ordinary website-use data such as the page you viewed — not the numbers inside the calculator.

2. How Your Calculations Work

All calculations — measurements, project parameters, DIY inputs, and results — run in your web browser. We receive a copy of an estimate only if you opt in, as described in section 3.

If you allow us to save the estimate on this device (section 4), clicking Calculate can keep that committed line-item snapshot in your browser so a later quote request, emailed PDF, or bid check can use the same scope. Closing the tab no longer always erases it. If you decline that save, or you clear it, refreshing the page discards the numbers as before.

3. Information You Choose to Send

If you ask us to email an estimate, we receive the address you type and a copy of the line-item estimate so we can send that one message. Our email vendor (Resend) also keeps a send log of that message, including the address, so delivery can be proven and abuse can be investigated. Asking for that quote is not consent to a newsletter or sales list. We do not add Resend logs to a marketing list.

We send occasional planning tips or other promotional email only if you check the optional box that says so. That box starts unchecked. If you leave it unchecked, we use your address only for the estimate or quote request you just submitted. People who already asked for an estimate before this box existed are not on a marketing list unless they later check the box or sign up some other clear way.

If you ask for 1–2 quotes against a scope, we receive your zip code, email, the estimate details, and — only if you check “Have them call me” — a phone number and your consent to be contacted about that project. We share that packet with a quote partner so licensed pros near you can respond. That request is not a newsletter signup. We do not sell your contact information to data brokers.

You may request deletion of a quote request, estimate email, or marketing signup by contacting us through the About page. You can also unsubscribe from planning emails using the link in those messages if we ever send them. We keep lead records and marketing signups only as long as needed to send the request, honor the signup, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations, typically no longer than two years.

4. Cookies and On-Device Storage

We set first-party cookies on our domain and may store the last committed estimate in your browser’s local storage. That is so we can remember that you allowed saving, which calculator you last used, and the line-item snapshot to pack for a contractor. We do not use this to follow you around the web or to show ads.

In plain terms, we may store:

• Strictly necessary cookies — for example a session token so a form post to our servers is genuine (CSRF protection). These are required for those features to work safely.
• A consent cookie from CookieYes — so we remember Accept, Reject, or your category choices (necessary, functional save, analytics, and advertising). CookieYes is the company that shows the banner.
• Analytics cookies from Google — only if you allow Analytics in the banner. These help us count visits and which calculator pages are used. They typically have names that start with “_ga”. Details are in section 6.
• Advertising cookies from Google — only if you allow Advertising in the banner. These help Google Ads measure whether an ad brought you here and whether a conversion happened (for example opening a calculator or requesting quotes). They typically have names that start with “_gcl”. Details are in section 6.
• A “last calculator” cookie — a short pointer to which project page holds your saved estimate (for example the boat dock calculator), not the dollar figures themselves.
• An optional zip cookie — only after you type a zip on the quote form, so you do not have to retype it if you come back. We do not put your email or phone number in a cookie.
• Local storage on this device — the committed estimate JSON (project, totals, and line items). A full estimate is too large for a cookie, so the packet lives here, not in the cookie file.

Email and phone stay in the form you are filling out and, if you submit, on our servers as described in section 3. We do not write them into cookies or local storage.

We do not load Meta, TikTok, or other social-media pixels. Google Analytics and Google Ads are described in section 6 and run only in the categories you allow.

Analytics, advertising, and “save this estimate” cookies stay off until you choose them. Google’s tag file is not downloaded while those categories are denied. Tapping a calculator field or scrolling is not treated as “I agree.”

The CookieYes banner may wait until you tap or type, or up to about 12 seconds, so the page heading can paint first. That delay does not turn optional cookies on. If you already chose Accept or Reject, we load CookieYes right away so that choice still applies. Cookie settings and Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in the footer work immediately, even if the banner has not appeared yet.

If you click a store or loan link, that destination may set its own cookies on its site. That is their policy, not ours.

How to clear this. Use Reject (or turn off Analytics, Advertising, or functional save) on the cookie banner, Cookie settings in the footer, or the cookie icon. On the US banner, or via Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in the footer, you can turn off advertising cookies. You can delete cookies and site data for projectroicalc.com in your browser. When we offer a “Forget this estimate” control on the calculator, that will delete the saved packet, the last-calculator cookie, and the zip cookie for that visit. It does not turn off Google Analytics or Google Ads — use the banner or footer for that. Clearing site data also forgets your banner choice, so we may ask again.

5. Server Logs and Hosting

Our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect standard web server access logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages requested. This information is used solely for operational purposes such as diagnosing technical errors, preventing abuse, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns. It is not combined with calculator inputs to profile you and is retained only as long as necessary for these operational purposes, typically no longer than 30 days.

6. Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics 4 on projectroicalc.com so we can see which pages are used and whether the site is working. If you allow Analytics cookies in the CookieYes banner, Google may receive the page URL, a rough geographic area, browser and device type, referring site, and an analytics identifier stored in cookies.

We also run Google Ads. If you allow Advertising cookies, Google may set ads cookies so we can tell whether you arrived from an ad and whether a conversion happened on this site (for example using a calculator or sending a quote request). We may also use that information to measure and improve our ads, including showing our ads to people who already visited this site (remarketing), when Advertising cookies are allowed. Google’s own policy applies to that processing.

We do not send Google your calculator inputs, line-item totals, email address, or phone number as part of Analytics or Ads cookies. Quote-request volume may also be counted on our servers from the forms you submit. Store and loan click-outs are ordinary links; those destination sites have their own ads cookies after you leave.

If you choose Reject, or you turn Analytics or Advertising off, we do not set those Google cookies for that visit. You can change this later with the cookie icon.

7. Third-Party Services

CookieYes provides the cookie banner and stores your choice. Google provides Analytics and Google Ads if you allow those categories. Optional store and loan links send you off this site; those companies handle their own checkout or application. Optional quote partners receive only the information you submit on the quote form, including the estimate scope. If web fonts are loaded, they may be subject to the privacy policies of those providers.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or submit a form. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Privacy Rights

If you sent us an email address or quote request, you may ask us to provide, correct, or delete that record. You may delete the estimate saved on this device using your browser or the forget control described in section 4. You may turn off analytics and advertising cookies with Reject, Cookie settings, or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in the footer. We do not sell your contact information to data brokers. Google Ads measurement can involve sharing website-use data with Google for advertising. In the United States you can opt out of that sharing with the footer link, the banner, or by turning Advertising off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as an opt-out of advertising cookies. If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), contact us through the About page and we will respond.

10. Data Security

The Service is delivered over HTTPS. Calculator logic executes in your browser. Saved estimates on this device are as protected as anything else in that browser profile. Opt-in form submissions are sent to our servers so we can email you or forward a quote request. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

11. International Users

This Service is operated from within the United States and is aimed at U.S. visitors. Operational logs, any opt-in form data, and (if you allow Analytics or Advertising) Google Analytics and Google Ads data may be processed in the United States. On-device cookies and local storage stay on your device unless you submit a form or allow those cookie categories.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. We do not treat that header as a substitute for the cookie banner. Some browsers also send Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor GPC by turning off advertising cookies. Use Reject, Cookie settings, or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in the footer to turn off Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies. First-party cookies for saving an estimate on this device still work as described in section 4 unless you clear them or decline that save.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
